A dear friend keeps reminding me that "you get what you pay for." In this day and age of point and shoot cameras, we are ALL photographers. Hiring a professional assures you that the images will endure and not be lost either on your hard drive or your memory card. Having portraits taken is the best way to assure that memories are flash frozen in time (pardon the bad metaphor). Portraits are not snapshots. Session fee is $135, payable on or before the date of the sitting. This money is non-refundable, and is the beginning of our photographic relationship, and it pays me for basic travel and initial working fees.The fee includes $20 worth of credit applied to the PRINT order. At the session or before, I will present you with a model release form, which sounds scary, but isn't. It protects us both. My fee includes travel within 30 miles of Winston-Salem. However, at additional expense, I'll travel to the ends of the earth with you. If for some reason the child/adult/family/bird or dog is in a bad mood, acting adolescent or otherwise is indisposed, we can certainly regroup and reset the shoot. I am accommodating in every way and understand the vagaries of life. This part of NC is lush and green and environmental shots are beautiful, but if you are allergic to the elements or the heat and want to head inside, we can do that. If your backyard is what you want as your backdrop, with Fido slobbering all over us, that's just fine with me, since I'm a pet owner/lover. What to wear, that's the biggest question. Plan on several changes of clothing. The simpler, the better, since the more comfortable the subject is, the better the shots. However, there are times when only dress clothes will do. I like jeans and solid color shirts, autumnal shades in fall time, and pastels in spring. Young children can be stunning in white.
Within about 10 days of our session, I will post images from our session on this website. You will have 15 days to make selections. If you exceed 15 days, I will remove your proofs from the website, and I will charge you a nominal fee to re-upload them. The reason for this is that making timely photographic decisions is better for both of us in this busy world. I will be delighted to revisit the files long after initial orders are made. In that event, I would encourage you to call me and come visit me in my studio, where we can look at the images with fresh eyes. Also please bear in mind that images you view on your computer screen may be very different from the ones on my calibrated monitor! Consider a one year contract to track your child's growth, which is especially timely with infants. Let's photograph in 3 month intervals, with the fee reduced to $100 each session, and a 20% discount of all prints. Currently, I do not provide DVDs of images, but I will provide you with individual files for Facebook and other websites at the cost of $10 an image. The resolution will be great on the internet, but will be disappointing if you wish to print them! I look forward to a great working relationship with you.
